10 Super Chic Yellow Outfits For Summers

10 Chic Ways To Wear Yellow in Summer

For me summer resonates with bright & warm colours but there is one colour I’m always doubtful about – yellow. At the runway all yellow outfits dominated the collections for many designers like Delpozo, Kate Spade New York, Creatures of Comfort, Coach, Jason Wu & others.

For years, we have seen yellow as a shade that does nothing for our skin tone, eyes or hair. It never fits anywhere and yellow outfits can sometimes leave us looking like lemons. It is without any doubt one of the trickiest colours to wear.

But in the past one year, we have seen the some pretty amazing yellow outfits on the red carpet that it has now taken over as one of the top colours for the season. From Emma Stones La La Land yellow dress to Rihannas Met Gala gown, all variations of the colour seem to shine bright at the red carpet. But as good as this colour looks on the red carpet, can it be worn so fashionably IRL?

The key to pulling of yellow outfits is to embrace romantic silhouettes and understand the complementary colours that work well with the colour.

Going Classic

Most probably the easiest way to wear this colour is going back to the classics. Team up a plain yellow tee with a pair of high-waisted shorts or jeans. This works for both the bright as well as muted variations of the colour. To make it even more fun, replace the regular shorts with ripped shorts.

A classic forever is a nice yellow sun dress. One way to make it chic is to opt for flowy fabrics & silhouettes rather than something skin fit. Since brown is an earthly tone, it can help make the outfit look more grounded. So be sure to add a nice brown bag or pair of brown sandals.

  1. I love wearing colorful clothes in summer and yellow is a great choice for expressing joy. I love how you showed so many ways on how to incorporate yellow in our daily outfits.

  2. I only have a few pieces of clothing in yellow. I find it hard to pair it with something else, but thanks to you, I found nice and fashionable ways to wear something yellow. Oh, BTW, that bag is so cute!

  3. I tend to agree with you that yellow can be a hard color to wear. Fir this reason, I like the idea of using a jacket and perhaps the handbag idea as being a more ‘safer’ approach. Really nice outfits and matching here.

  4. I love to pair yellow with green and white. They just look perfect for summer. But as you said, going back to classic is also a way to go, so inspired to pair my yellow t-shirt with short denim jeans now.

  5. I love yellow! all these suggestions are super chic, but for me it’s all about finding the right shade of yellow, as not everyone suits my skintone.

  6. I have worn mustard when I had that phase but summer yellow has never been very evident in my wardrobe and it should be. I think yellow and white is a lovely combination and I love Viva Luxury too x

  7. I think i own only 2 items in yellow but whenever I wear them i get a lot of compliments. These fab outfits make me want to get more yellow stuff.

  8. I am loving these yellow chic outfits. I am such a huge fan of a “pop” of color and these are giving me so much life.

  9. This is definitely some yellow chic here. I know I couldn’t pull off the color. But I really do like the yellow top with white pants. And I also like the yellow top with a green printed dress. Both very beautiful.

  10. OMG gorgeous! Yellow is definitely a fresh and chic color for a Summer outfit! I have a yellow dress, but after reading this I think I’m going to add more yellow piece in my wardrobe.

  11. Great post! I always struggle with yellow as my skin has an olivey tone to it but I will keep some of these examples in mind 🙂
